How to drain prostate fluid

Prostatic fluid discharge is mainly achieved through prostate massage, physiological semen ejaculation and other methods. Main methods include prostate massage, semen discharge, hot water sitz bath, drug treatment, urinary catheterization and other methods to relieve discomfort.

1. Prostate massage

A professional doctor will perform a digital rectal examination by gently pressing the prostate to promote the discharge of gland secretions, which is suitable for patients with chronic prostatitis. The urethral opening needs to be kept clean during the operation. Short-term frequent urination or slight pain may occur after massage, and water needs to be replenished in time. Do not operate by yourself or use excessive force to avoid causing prostate damage or the spread of infection.

2. Ejection of semen

Regular ejaculation can promote the natural discharge of prostatic fluid through ejaculation. It is recommended to maintain an appropriate frequency every week. For patients with prostatic stasis, moderate ejaculation can help reduce the risk of glandular duct blockage. But you need to avoid doing it too frequently, otherwise it may cause prostate congestion. If pain during ejaculation or hematospermia occurs, stop immediately and seek medical attention.

3. Hot water sitz bath

Sitz bath in warm water at about 40℃ for 15-20 minutes every day can improve local blood circulation through thermal effect, promote glandular duct relaxation and discharge of secretions. It can be used with sodium bicarbonate solution to rinse the perineum to enhance the cleaning effect. This method has a better effect on relieving the swelling caused by non-bacterial prostatitis and is contraindicated during the acute infection period.

4. Drug treatment

Follow the doctor's advice and use drugs such as Tamsulosin Hydrochloride Sustained-release Capsules, Qianlieshutong Capsules, and Longshushu Capsules, which can relax the smooth muscle of the prostate and improve the secretion function of the gland. Bacterial prostatitis requires combined use of antibiotics such as levofloxacin tablets. It is necessary to monitor blood pressure changes during medication and avoid co-administration with α-blockers.

5. Catheterization

For patients with acute urinary retention, medical staff use sterile catheters to drain urine to indirectly relieve the pressure of prostate swelling. Perineal disinfection is required before and after the operation, and urinary catheterization should be left in place for no more than 3 days. Long-term repeated catheterization may increase the risk of urinary tract infection and requires treatment of underlying prostate diseases.

In daily life, you should avoid sitting for long periods of time which would cause pressure on the perineum, and get up and move around for 5 minutes every hour. Pay attention to limiting spicy food and drinking about 2000 ml of water every day. Do moderate squats and levator exercises to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. It is recommended to choose breathable cotton underwear. If symptoms such as persistent pain in the perineum, difficulty urinating, or fever occur, you need to go to a urology department in time to check for prostate lesions.
