From the general definition of sports training, specialized sports skills refer to exclusive technical abilities that correspond to a mature sports event with unified competition rules and are only applicable to the scene of the event. It covers the exclusive technical system of all mature sports from official Olympic events to popular popular events. It is a completely different concept from the basic sports qualities such as strength, endurance, and flexibility that everyone often talks about.

Regarding the boundaries of specialized sports skills, there has always been a slight controversy in the industry. The core disagreement is mainly in the category of whether the technology of emerging sports can be counted. When Frisbee and e-sports first entered the public eye, many traditional sports practitioners felt that these sports did not have the support of a long-term training system and the corresponding technologies were not considered specialized skills. In recent years, as the rules and training standards of these sports have gradually become unified, fewer and fewer people hold this view.

I stayed in a sports school for six years to practice sprinting, and then I switched to youth basketball training, and I feel very deeply about this. When I first switched to basketball, I could run 100 meters for 11 and a half seconds, and I could bench press 80 kilograms. My basic quality was better than that of many children who had practiced basketball for two or three years. But when I played in the game, I couldn't even move the ball well - the foot control of changing directions under the crotch, the core rhythm of catch and jump shots, and even the judgment of blocking when grabbing rebounds are all special skills unique to basketball. The skills I used to practice sprinting can't be used in these places.

Not only the confrontational events, but also the special skills of individual events are more obvious, such as the splash technique of diving. If a person who has practiced swimming for ten years has not practiced diving specifically, he can still make a splash of half a meter high when he jumps.; There is also the art of positioning and releasing in archery. No matter how stable your core is, if your fingers move even a millimeter when releasing, the arrow will miss the target by several rings. ; Even the road running event, which seems to have the lowest threshold, has many special skills for the whole marathon, such as adjusting the pace up and down hills, running and getting water at the aid station, and controlling the stride after the accumulation of lactic acid in the thighs in the second half of the race. These are all things that cannot be practiced in ordinary jogging.

To be honest, if ordinary people want to distinguish whether a certain ability is a specialized sports skill, there is a tip that is particularly easy to remember: if you transfer this ability to another sport and use it, and it is completely useless or even counterproductive, then it must be that the specialized skill has not been used - just like the somersault you do in gymnastics.
