I have been practicing yoga for 6 years and Chen style Tai Chi for 3 years. I have a lot of practicing friends from both circles. If I really want to decide which of the two is more effective, there is no standard answer. It all depends on your current physical condition and practice requirements.
In the past two years, I was working on a project for 20 consecutive days. I had an acute lumbar prolapse and I couldn't stand up straight. The rehabilitation doctor asked me to stop Tai Chi and do yin yoga for 20 minutes every day. I didn't have to focus on the range of each posture, and I held it for 3-5 minutes to loosen the deep fascia. At that time, the relief effect of yoga came faster. I switched to Tai Chi and my waist fell down even if I stood for 5 minutes. I have almost recovered from isosceles, but I always feel that my whole body is hairy, and I get nervous when I walk a little faster. I asked a Tai Chi teacher to adjust the problem of my slumped waist and raised hips. I only stood for 15 minutes every day. After half a month, my feet felt as if they were stuck to the ground. Even the problem of being out of breath when climbing the third floor was much lighter. During that time, I felt that the effect of Tai Chi on nourishing Qi was incomparable to the flow yoga I often practiced.
I'm not the only one who feels this way. The little girl I practice with wants to lose fat and get in shape, so she pursues Ashtanga and Vitality Yoga. She breaks out in a sweat after each practice, and her waist and abdominal lines appear in two months. She always says that Tai Chi is slow and doesn't feel hot after standing for half an hour, so it's of no use to her. Aunt Zhang, who was doing Tai Chi together downstairs, used to practice yoga and stretched her rotator cuffs. It took her three months to heal. Later, she started doing Tai Chi for half a year. Her old pain in her knees when walking downstairs was relieved. Now everyone she meets says that Tai Chi is the real health-care tool.
To put it bluntly, the underlying logic of the two sports is different. Yoga focuses more on muscle stretching and strength balance. It is indeed very efficient in adjusting posture problems such as rounded shoulders, false hip width, and straight waist caused by sitting for a long time in modern people.; Tai Chi follows the path of spiral force generation. When moving, you need to be aware of the energy until you are strong. It trains the ability of nerves to control muscles, as well as the stability of the core. If you practice it correctly, you can even change your usual power-generating postures of walking and carrying things. It is particularly effective in preventing long-term sports injuries.
In fact, the difference between the two is like asking whether it is better to drink green tea or black tea. When the weather is hot and you are tired of eating, drinking green tea is refreshing and refreshing. For people with a cold stomach and afraid of cold, drinking black tea is warm and comfortable. How can there be any difference? If you are really not sure, you might as well try each for half a month. Your own body's feelings will be much more reliable than any professional evaluation.
