Abnormal bleeding from uterine incision diverticulum

Abnormal bleeding from uterine incisional diverticula may be related to factors such as diverticular inflammation, diverticular endometriosis, abnormal diverticular blood vessels, etc. It usually manifests as symptoms such as prolonged menstrual period and intermenstrual bleeding.

Uterine incisional diverticulum is a depressed structure formed by poor healing of the uterine incision after cesarean section. The muscular layer of the diverticulum wall is weak, and the intimal tissue can easily accumulate locally to form abnormal bleeding lesions. When an inflammatory reaction occurs in diverticula, the increase in local vascular permeability will lead to increased menstrual bleeding. Diverticulant endometriosis lesions will fall off periodically under the influence of hormones, causing irregular intermenstrual bleeding. The vascular network at the base of the diverticula is rich and structurally disordered, and spontaneous rupture and bleeding are prone to occur. Some patients may also experience postcoital bleeding, which is related to the change in uterine position during sexual activity and the traction of diverticula.

It is recommended to keep the vulva clean and dry and avoid strenuous exercise and heavy physical labor. Cotton sanitary napkins can be used during menstruation and changed frequently. Bathing and sexual intercourse are prohibited. Add more iron-rich foods to your diet, such as animal liver, spinach, etc., and take iron supplements under the guidance of a doctor when necessary. If the bleeding lasts for more than 7 days or the amount of bleeding increases significantly, you should seek medical treatment promptly for hysteroscopy or ultrasound.
