When will the results of routine physical examination be available?

The results of most routine physical examinations are issued within 1 to 7 working days, and rarely exceed 10 days.

Last week, I accompanied my cousin, who had just graduated, to go to the community health service center for a physical examination. I chose the most basic package, which included hematuria, chest X-ray, medical and surgical, and liver function tests. I received the electronic report in the afternoon of the next day. If you want the paper version with a stamp, you can wait an extra day to get it.

Of course, this time is not fixed. It mainly depends on whether the project you choose requires special testing. Last year, when my mother had her annual physical examination, additional HPV typing, TCT, and food intolerance tests were added. The results of basic liver and kidney function, and ultrasound were available in three days. Those special items took almost a week to wait. Finally, all the results were summarized, and the examining doctor wrote the recommendations. It was already the sixth day after the physical examination that the complete report was received.

There are also many people who think that the faster the results are, the better, and even specifically choose small institutions that claim to "produce all reports on the same day" for physical examinations. I have encountered a friend complaining before, saying that he did all the tests in a certain physical examination institution in the morning and got the report in the afternoon. As a result, when he went to the hospital for a review later, he discovered that the abnormal blood routine indicators were not marked at all. Later, after asking a familiar laboratory doctor, I learned that all abnormal indicators in regular institutions must be reviewed twice, and items involving pathology and cell testing must be manually read and interpreted, which is not fast at all. If the review step is omitted for the sake of speed, the meaning of the physical examination will be lost.

The speed of the physical inspection report is a bit like that of a restaurant. If you only order a few quick-fried or cold dishes, the chef can serve them to you in ten minutes. If you order slow-cooked soup or freshly baked snacks, you must leave enough time for the chef to process them.； If you are rushing during the peak meal period, you will have to wait a while even if you order a quick meal. Just like every spring and autumn when units purchase physical examinations in groups and during the peak season of recruitment physical examinations, even for the basic package, the results will be 1 to 2 days later than usual. This is normal.

If you are in a hurry to use the report, you can make it clear to the front desk staff when registering for the physical examination. Most formal institutions will open a green channel for users who urgently need it, and give priority to reports on basic projects. There is no need to wait for the complete report to come out. You can also issue the urgent parts first.
