Wound suppuration after circumcision requires prompt medical treatment, which may involve local debridement, anti-infective treatment and other measures. Wound suppuration is usually related to improper postoperative care, bacterial infection and other factors, so self-medication should be avoided.

Postoperative wound suppuration commonly manifests as local redness, swelling, exudation or purulent secretions, which may be accompanied by pain or fever. Mild infections can be controlled with normal saline flushing and topical antibiotic ointment such as mupirocin ointment under the guidance of a doctor. If an obvious abscess forms or fever persists, a doctor needs to evaluate whether incision and drainage or oral antibiotics such as cefaclor dispersible tablets are needed. During the period of suppuration, the wound should be kept dry, disinfected with iodophor daily and covered with a sterile dressing, and strenuous exercise should be avoided to rub the wound. If suppuration occurs within 1 week after surgery, the surgeon must be reviewed to rule out suture rejection or secondary infection from the hematoma.

After surgery, you need to wear loose cotton underwear to reduce friction, and wipe dry in time after urinating to avoid urine contamination of the wound. The diet should be supplemented with high-quality protein such as fish and eggs to promote healing and avoid spicy and irritating foods. No sexual intercourse or masturbation is allowed for 2 weeks after surgery, and waterproof dressings should be used to protect the wound when bathing. If there is a fever exceeding 38°C, a foul odor of pus, or a wound dehiscence, emergency treatment is required immediately. Follow up regularly until the wound is completely healed. There may still be local induration after healing, which usually can be gradually softened and absorbed in 2-3 months.
