Whether adnexitis continues to cause pain depends on the severity of the disease and the treatment. Persistent pain may occur during the acute attack phase, while intermittent dull pain may occur during the chronic phase. Adnexitis is usually caused by factors such as pathogen infection and the spread of inflammation in adjacent organs, and manifests as symptoms such as lower abdominal pain and lumbosacral soreness.

When acute adnexitis is not treated in time, a strong inflammatory reaction may lead to persistent lower abdominal pain, accompanied by fever and increased secretions. The degree of pain is related to the scope of infection, and peritoneal irritation may occur in severe cases. After standard use of antibiotics such as cefixime dispersible tablets, levofloxacin tablets, metronidazole tablets and other drugs, the pain is usually relieved within 1-2 weeks. Chronic adnexitis is often caused by incomplete cure in the acute phase. It manifests as dull pain in the lower abdomen during menstruation or after exertion, which lasts from hours to days. Gynecological examination can reveal thickening or tenderness in the adnexal area. Physical therapy such as ultrashort wave diathermy combined with the Chinese patent medicine Fuke Qianjin Tablets can improve local blood circulation.

A small number of patients develop chronic pelvic pain due to hydrosalpinx or pelvic adhesions. The pain may persist for a long time and worsen with activity. Patients with severe pelvic adhesions require laparoscopic release. Laparoscopic ostomy is recommended when the diameter of hydrosalpinx exceeds 3 cm. The course of tuberculous adnexitis is prolonged and requires standardized anti-tuberculosis treatment for 6-9 months, and the pain relief is slow. When endometriosis is combined with adnexitis, dysmenorrhea becomes progressively worse and the cycle is prolonged, requiring long-term drug control.

When lower abdominal pain persists or recurs, gynecological examination, ultrasound and secretion testing should be performed promptly. During treatment, avoid spicy and irritating foods, keep the perineum clean, and rest in bed during the acute stage to relieve pain. Patients with chronic pain can try hot compresses on the lower abdomen and moderate pelvic muscle exercises to help improve blood circulation. Check regularly until symptoms completely disappear to prevent the disease from progressing to infertility or chronic pelvic pain syndrome.
