There is currently no authoritative evidence-based medical evidence to support that moxibustion can directly cure food allergies. In the practice of traditional Chinese medicine, Zusanli, Quchi, Zhongwan, and Feishu acupoints are usually selected based on syndrome differentiation for auxiliary physical conditioning.
In fact, this matter has always been controversial. I have been working in a moxibustion clinic for five or six years and have seen two completely opposite cases. Two years ago, I had a regular customer who was allergic to mangoes. Even if she got a little bit of mango peel, her mouth would be red and itchy with a rash for three or four days. She has a weak spleen and stomach, and she has diarrhea after taking two sips of iced milk tea. I asked her to perform moxibustion on Zusanli and Zhongwan every other day for 15 minutes per acupoint. The moxibustion lasted less than three weeks. The last time her child ate a mango and rubbed it on her arm, there was only a little redness, which disappeared in two hours. She was surprised. But there is also a young man who is allergic to milk protein. He received Yuequchi and Feishu moxibustion consecutively. Last week, he accidentally drank a sip of milk tea containing milk and still had diarrhea for two days, but he did not feel any better at all.
In fact, this difference is normal. After all, the root cause of food allergies is an abnormal immune mechanism. Everyone's allergy type and physical syndrome are different. If you have poor spleen and stomach transportation, and you will feel nauseous and rash after eating something wrong, you can focus on moxibustion at Zhongwan and Zusanli. It is equivalent to adding a power buff to your spleen and stomach to help it metabolize the "food toxins" that cannot be digested.; If you have an allergic constitution that is prone to wind and sneezes and breaks out in hives when the air conditioner is blown, multi-moxibustion at Quchi and Feishu can help to solidify the healthy energy on the surface and reduce allergic reactions induced by external evils.
To be honest, you should never regard moxibustion as a "magic medicine" for treating allergies. If you have just eaten allergenic food and you have developed a rash and can't breathe, don't even think about taking anti-allergic medicine or calling 120 first. Moxibustion is at most an auxiliary method to regulate your body when there is no attack, and it cannot replace daily allergy avoidance - you can't just eat the food you are allergic to after a few days of moxibustion, right? That's pure nonsense. If you really want to try it, it is best to find a professional Chinese medicine doctor to identify your constitution before selecting acupuncture points. Don’t moxibustion blindly on your own. If you have a constitution that is prone to getting angry, too much moxibustion may aggravate the symptoms, which is not worth the gain.
